Circa 1820, good set of 4 George IV mahogany dining chairs. The curved shaped backs, with a stylish mahogany veneer in the centre, are held in place by 2 uprights. At the top of the uprights there is a flared carved section and the uprights themselves are reeded. The reeding continues down to the seat and curves around the side, finishing with a carved roundel and a small curved fan at the back. The chairs have a drop in seat pad and below this the side and front rails of the chairs are fluted with carved concentric rings at the side and the front. The legs are classic George IV, with a turned section at the top and then a wonderful fluted and tapering area, finishing on raised turned feet. The back legs are square, tapering and out swept. The chairs have great colour and excellent condition.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
