secretary desk, circa 1830

Rare, exquisite and unique - these words can surely be used to describe this secretary desk in the Biedermeier style. Presented piece of furniture was manufactured circa 1860 in Northern Europe, and has been made in conifer, and veneered with mahogany.

The upper section of this secretary desk has three leaves that ends with an elliptical setting in the form of a crown with carved, geometrical and coral ornamentations. The side door is lockable with a key, in a cylindrical shape, whereas the central one is straight, and not convex. Further, there are wide shelves inside every leaf, which are prefect for storing binders with documents.The lower section of the secretary desk is composed of a cylindrical lid, under which small drawers and compartments for segregating documents or jewelry are hidden. In the central section of the furniture, there is a tabernacle ornamented with a coral gouging.The secretary desk has also a beautiful extendible desktop, which after opening can be used as a desk top. Its central part has been padded with leather, compartments are on the tops’ sides.The lower section of this furniture is composed of three extendible and very practical drawers.Furthermore, the whole has been placed on a solid, delicately elliptical base.The presence of such magnificent piece of furniture will add chic and elegance to any interior.
