Circa 1790, rare and desirable Scottish George III mahogany fold over tea table. The D shaped table has an inlaid and crossbanded fore edge on top, which continues onto the front. It opens to reveal the interior with wonderful warm colour and similar banding to that of top. Beneath the top is a single drawer incorporated into the apron at the front with a simple flush escutcheon in the form of an oval heraldic shield, and banded with multiples of different styles of inlay. The table stands on four square tapering legs with an inlaid vase at the top and the classic Edinburgh Gothic arch and dot pattern. The front of the table has been bleached out by the sun and retains a warm faded colour. Fine example of Scottish George III furniture.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
