...........................................................................Description:SIGNED SERRENTO ITALIAN ANTIQUE WILLIAM IV PERIOD MARQUETRY INLAID TILT TOP TABLEA beautiful period Italian piece dating to the William IV period - Circa 1835Of superb patination & colouration, the table has a single reeded table edge leading up to an ebony strung cross banded boarder which is surrounded by further circular sections, all of which have beautiful conforming ebony & satinwood stringing.The magnificent marquetry centre section is inlaid with a decorative flower chain of different fruit woods, and is further enhanced by the central circle which appears to be made from Amboyna wood!The piece has a lockable tilt mechanism beneath the table and rests upon a fabulous barley twist central support which terminates in three crisply carved cabriole legs.There is an ancient signature on the top of the stand which we believe is the makers hand (please see images)The piece is offered in overall fabulous original condition commensurate with it's age and is therefore ready to be enjoyed immediatelyA really beautiful example which will add charm & character to any home either period or modern.
