Circa 1815, exhibition quality Regency rosewood and brass inlaid circular breakfast table. The top has a wonderful well figured rosewood veneer and a large double brass banding, with fine brass inlay within it depicting acorns and leaves in a continuous weave around the circumference of the table. The edge is crossbanded and there is a deep apron with a brass bezel, and within this another double line of brass inlay which has canted corners on every section and a small brass flower head. The table is held in position by two brass pins beneath the original double brass locking clasp. There are also some old Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh retail labels. There is a mahogany block with two further brass clips to lock the table in position. Beneath this is a rectangular upright with brass inlay and a foliate cast inlay in the centre, on a raised platform base again with a profusion of brass inlay on all sides. The whole piece stands on four elegant sabre legs with rosewood veneers and brass inlay in the form of flower heads. The toes are enclosed in a brass foliate casting and finishes on castors. Excellent condition and wonderful colour.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
