Circa 1880. Rare five leaf 19th century extending walnut dining table with patent mechanism. The oval ends with chamfered edges and an unusual, beaded frieze supported on two octagonal baluster legs over shaped platforms and stylish gothic style columns with hidden brass castors, with a central leg for additional support. The table bearing two labels from manufacturer Hobe & Sons, 484 Broadway New York, label Hobe’s patent extension table and unusually it has metal insets on the extensions, a very rare feature that will prevent wear. The table has been traditionally restored and is in excellent condition. The five leaves with chamfered sides give great variability to the length of the table from:
136cm Long to 323cm Long x 137cm Wide x 73cm High

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
