...........................................................................Description:RARE MAGNIFICENT WILLIAM IV PERIOD CUBAN MAHOGANY FOLDING WRITING GAMES TABLEThis fabulous all original period Cuban Mahogany is of a wonderful patination and is extremely heavy & robust for it's size.The piece is rare, having never seen one before with this form and really quite unsure as to it's original purpose but we think once opened is a card table or Games table.The piece is completely free standing and retains the original brass hinges that folds over the two end leafs when the end drawers are opened as supports. The small central panel in the centre rolls back to reveal a small recess, probably used to store Domino's or Cards.When closed the table appears to be a superior quality writing table or centre table.The Cuban timber used is of the finest quality, silky smooth and very, very heavy.The piece rests upon 4 sturdy square legs which are moulded and terminate in an unusual gadrooned foot.Circa: 1835 (Original William IV Period)Offered in overall fabulous original condition with just some minor ancient usage marks to the table top which give the rich mahogany patina lots of charm & character.A superb 'All Original' piece and a guaranteed future investment opportunity.
