pair of victorian walnut, marble top and ormolu mounted bedside cabinets

Circa 1880, pair of late Victorian walnut, marble top and ormolu mounted bedside cabinets or pedestals. The bedsides have pink variegated marble tops with a simple polished fore-edge. Beneath the top there are 2 pilasters with ormolu mounts in the form of bell drops tapering from top to bottom. There is a single drawer with quarter veneered front in walnut. They have a stylish brass knob with carved flower heads on the front, and a wonderful sunburst back plate which appears on both. Beneath this there is a single door with similar knob as the drawer. There is a fielded panel in the centre of the door again with quarter matching veneers and an ormolu mounted wreath with ribbons on the top and a variety of flowers. Inside there is a porcelain lined interior and beneath the door there is a moulded edge which continues around the front and side. There is a small dip in the apron at the front adding more style to the piece. The bedside stands on 4 elegant legs which start at the top with turning and a tapering fluted leg that continue down to another ring section. The legs finish on a turned toe which has been cast with in brass.
