Circa 1825, rare pair of Scottish George IV burr elm card tables. With mirror matched burr elm, hinged tops, opening to reveal red felt interior which is cross banded in burr elm, like the fore-edge. The tops revolve to show a small mahogany-lined storage area beneath, and beneath is a simple apron which has a half round, solid rosewood beading at its base. Standing on square pillars with buttresses to all sides in burr elm veneers, which taper slightly towards the base and finish on a small carved roundel on each side. The moulding around the base of the upright column is in rosewood and it stands on a burr elm raised shaped platform base, finishing on bun feet with original castors.
