Circa 1870, good pair of satin birch bedside cabinets. The generous size cabinets have an ogee moulded edge and the unusual feature of a concave shaped door with a carved handle in the form of leaves and fruit. The bottom of the handle is hollow to assist with the grip. Beneath the concave section there are further mouldings to either side of the drawer and with 2 pilasters which run around the entire face of the cabinet. In the centre is a large fielded panel door with a carved section to the top and a carved knob on the left hand side, opening to reveal a single shelf. Beneath the door is a further ogee moulding and the bedsides stand on a recessed enclosed plinth. The cabinets are both left handed and right handed.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
