Circa 1870, pair of exhibition quality carved walnut fauteuil/armchairs in the Louis XVI style. The vase backs have a wonderful relief carved top in the form of flowers and high Rococo. The chairs are newly upholstered in a wonderful double piped silk like fabric. The arms are padded and finish with a wonderful curling scroll in the form of leaves. It is supported on a large cabriole upright. The large stuffover seat with a shaped apron. The front of the apron is carved with a scallop shell in the centre. The sides are shaped and double beaded, as is the back. The whole piece stands on four well carved elegant cabriole legs. Both chairs are in excellent near perfect condition, and are ready for use. Good example of a chair of this style.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
