Circa 1870, rare and unusual pair of leather top, satin birch library tables. With tooling, gilded and crackled effect on the leather tops with cross banding and rounded fore-edges, above a simple apron. The tables stand on two ring turned and tapering bulbous legs leading to carved rondels and a large bulbous stretcher with ring turning and tapering in the centre. The whole piece finishes on a raised platform base with rounded corners. The tables have 4 squat bun feet with porcelain and brass castors beneath.
