Circa 1910, an oak Lebus filing/music cabinet. The rectangular top has a moulded edge and a small slip at the front. It is hinged and has a drop down arm on the inside to hold in position giving an area for placing books and documents on. Beneath this at the front there is a small oak apron with a large brass escutcheon. The escutcheon is embossed with ‘The Lebus cabinet’. There is a working lock and key. The cabinet has a large oak handle which is hollow underneath, over a tambour front. When open, the tambour folds down and retracts to within the body of the filing cabinet. There are 9 sliding shelves inside and these have a small locking device at the back to prevent them falling out. There are fielded panels on the sides and back. At the bottom there is an ogee moulding and the whole piece stands on an enclosed plinth with later steel castors being added for ease of movement which can be taken off, if required. The piece is clean and ready to use.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
