This is a near pair of antique carved temple chairs. A Burmese, mahogany and woven leather low chair, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850.

• Utterly fascinating carved chairs, with distinctive low form and appealing detail
• Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout
• Select stocks present fine grain interest and deep chestnut hues
• Quality antique leather and rattan seats in taut woven order and complete

• Pairs of turned finials united with woven leather ropework above the shaped back rest
• Profusely carved, the bak rests present scenes of foliate motif
• Stout block shoulders meet the seat cushion in carved cupped mounts
• Raised upon a quartet of squat circular feet, with a seat height of 16cm and 15cm respectively

This is a charming pair of antique carved temple chairs, with a wonderful tribal aesthetic. Ideal for decorative or fireside interest. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
