Circa 1870, unusual mid Victorian ebonised and Japanese chiffonier. The chiffonier has a ledged back with a shelf in the centre. The back of the shelf has a curvaceous top and unusually shaped sides, dissimilar to standard Victorian chiffoniers. There is a single shelf in the centre and this is held in place by 2 stylish turned columns. These areas have been painted with pergodas, figures, birds and plants. At the front there are 2 small full length drawers with turned knob handles and beneath this 2 large panel doors with a simple beading. The whole piece stands on a simple enclosed plinth, and the chiffonier lifts off the ebonised plinth.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
