Circa 1870, mid Victorian burr walnut library table. The rectangular top is quarter veneered in highly figured walnut with a very elegant three quarter wrap around gallery of open fretwork. There is a brass bezel around the fore edge of the entire table. Beneath the top are two drawers, the left stamped ‘C.Hindley and Sons Ltd’ and ‘Miles & Edwards, 134 Oxford Street, London’, patent number 21157. The table is polished on the back and is freestanding. The trestle ends have open fretwork and are united by an unusual stylish barley sugar stretcher. The whole piece stands on 4 carved cabriole legs. Useful size, excellent colour, good condition.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
