marble chinoiserie console table by whytock and reid

Circa 1920, unusual marble top console table by Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh, influenced by Sir Robert Lorimer. The black, brown and grey variegated marble top has a simple rounded fore-edge and is on a deep wooden apron with Chinoiserie, floral style motifs. Standing on a pair of square legs with reeded sides, and a classic Whytock and Reid foot with gilding to the front, and is fixed to the wall.

The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
