Late Victorian Walnut-Veneered & Button Back Nursing or Slipper Chair with Over-Sprung Seat

An attractive late Victorian example from around 1880 but in good condition with shaped & rolled button-upholstered back-rest, on blocked, turned & fluted supports that are contiguous with the shaped rear legs, circular over-sprung seat covered in an ivory-coloured cotton fabric with a pale & delicate floral pattern, on bulbous turned & tapering front legs, on brass and white ceramic casters to match the rear, this charming nursing or slipper chair will delight in any elegant home, whether period-furnished or more contemporary in style, fully-deserving of the flattering attention it will surely attract.

Now confirmed as Walnut veneer and with C & C (Cope & Collinson) Patent casters.

    Max. Width at Back-Rest 54.5cm x O/All Depth 67cm (21.5" x 26.5")
Height to Centre of Back 72.5cm (28.5") & Height of Seat 35cm (13.75")

NB: The dimensions have been measured in centimetres, then converted to the approximate equivalent in inches.

This piece dates from around 1880, so you may expect the mature character & patina of age, together with wear & tear commensurate with normal use but the upholstery is clean. There are signs of old woodworm, specifically in one rear leg but it's no longer active; in addition, there is a piece of veneer missing to the rear of one of the back-rest supports. In all other respects, the chair is in good, clean & sound condition and is ready to use in your home.
