Late George III elm corner chair. The chair top with its double high arms and small centre splat, unusually is supported by 2 large bulbous uprights which support the arms and a small one in the centre. Off this there are four shaped splats which are bent into position. There is a stuff over seat in needlepoint, and below this the single leg at the front in the style of a pad foot, with three further turned legs on each side. The stretchers at the front are turned, and there are four further stretchers at the back. The chair has a wonderful colour, old school marks on the top of the arms, and sturdy.
