A late 19th Century mahogany and ormolu mounted Egyptian revival stool. The stool has been recently re-upholstered in a rich red damask. A block stuffover seat sits on a mahogany frame. The deep frame has ormolu mounts on all sides, and to the centre has a rondel with leaves to both sides. At each of the corners is a large cast flower head and this occurs 8 times on the stool. The stools legs are made from a mixture of ormolu and mahogany depicting a winged lion on a podium. The tips of the wings are attached to the frame of the stool. The body of the lion is of carved mahogany and continues down into a stylised foot. This piece is in excellent condition and is of great style and quality.
