large hooded orkney chair

Circa 1960. A rare and unusual very large oak framed oat straw Orkney chair by ‘Reynold Eunson/David Kirkness’, Reynold took over Kirkness’ business in 1956, kept the name Kirkness and added his own stamp which is noticeable as an R and E with a thistle in between letters. Similar examples of his work can be seen in the ‘Victoria and Albert Museum in London’. This oak framed chair is made in the traditional way with oak straw finishing on the facing with marram grass. The chair is in excellent condition.

Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
