    Georgian mahogany longcase clock
    This Georgian mahogany longcase clock
    Was made by John Edwards of Norwich recorded as working 1770-1784
    The arched brass dial with a subsidiary second dial as well as a date aperture its 8-day movement striking on a bell
    It is housed in this mahogany case of a rare design with the carved ho-ho bird (mythical bird that would signify longevity) above the pierced foliate carving at the pediment of the sliding hood.
    It has a long-arched cross banded door that opens to reveal the hanging weights and pendulum.
    This spectacular clock would have been made for an important merchant or gentleman farmer to grace their important home.
