Circa 1820, George IV Scottish burr elm circular breakfast table. The table has a wonderful segmented top of matching elm veneers and broad crossbanding, with wonderful colour and patination. The side of table is also crossbanded, as is the deep apron. The back of the table has been scumbled to look like rosewood. Beneath the top, is a large burr elm block which has three large brass pins to hold the table in position. The table stands on a triangle tapering stem which is concave in the main sections, chamfered with a flat edge, and has a beading three quarters of the way down again in burr elm. The base of the column spreads and follows the same form as the top but elongates and has again two beadings beneath this. The whole table stands on a raised triangular concave platform, with the same matching veneers on the facings and sides. The feet are carved with a scrolling top and large foliate leaves which form the foot. The inside of the leaves are hollow with brass castors. Excellent colour and condition.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
