Circa 1815, George III sofa table. A classic shaped sofa table with mahogany top, rosewood cross banding and string inlay separating the two. The table has 2 rectangular drop down flaps with rounded corners and a boxwood banding in rosewood continuing down the sides. At the back of the table are 2 dummy drawers with classic Georgian escutcheons and cast brass circular handles with a stylish decorated top and ring back plate. At the front are 2 full length working drawers with ash linings indicating that the table is perhaps Scottish. The table has 2 solid gables which have string inlay and as they continue down there is a turned cross stretcher between them, with the whole piece standing on 4 sabre legs with boxwood inlay on the edges. There is a single block at each end and as the sabre leg continues down it finishes with a block. At the top of the block there is a turned rondel and beneath the block is a turned section. These then stand on 4 brass cups with brass castors beneath.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
