Circa 1800, George III mahogany washstand. The solid mahogany top has a deep apron with string inlay with canted corners. This is hinged and opens to show a section with 3 apertures which would have held a basin, shaving bowl and soap dish. Beneath this is a shaped apron on all sides. Further down is a shelf over a single drawer with string inlay and a small brass knob handle. The whole piece stands on four square tapering legs with a turned cross stretcher with a central dish. Simple and stylish.
