Circa 1780, George III mahogany side chair. The chair has a large back and shaped upright splat. At the base of the back is a stylish paper fold piece of mahogany. The two large arms have carving on outside edge and finish in a shepherd crook end. These are supported by stylish uprights with an unusual carving on the facing. The stuffover seat is needlepoint and beneath this is a very stylish apron carved with Vitruvian wave scrolls. The front legs have carved shells on the knees and finish on pad feet. The two back legs are outswept and also finish in pad feet. The chair has been re-polished at some stage.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
