Circa 1775, George III period mahogany serpentine fronted sideboard. The top has a three quarter wrap around brass gallery with turned stylish uprights, shaped top rails and wonderful finials. This retains a nice patination. Beneath this is the serpentine top with boxwood inlay on the sides and crossbanded edge and boxwood inlay again beneath. Below the top are 2 serpentine drawers and 2 further drawers either side for wine. The drawers have original swan neck handles along the top, and the bottom of the drawers have flame mahogany panels but no handles. Beneath the drawers is a chequered inlay which runs along the front. There are quarter blocks with shell inlay fans. The inlay continues underneath the sideboard. The legs are classic George III: square tapering with a string inlay and a Gothic dot. Excellent condition.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
