Circa 1870, exhibition quality French ormolu mounted kidney shaped side table, made from a combination of kingwood and walnut. The top has a geometric parquetry centre and crossbanded edging enclosed in a large cast bezel. Beneath this at the front is a single drawer which is concave, crossbanded and has parquetry similar to the top. The bottom of the drawer has an ormolu beading which is shaped and follows the form of the drawer with scrolling at the end. In the centre is an escutcheon with a wonderful detailed foliate and Rococo casting. There are similar mouldings on the left and right, and on the sides. The whole table stands on thin, elegant cabriole legs which are mounted on three sides with ormolu beading. The knees have a very elaborate Rococo casting with acanthus leaves and flowers. These continue to be the beading down the front. The legs finish in very elegant sabots which are in the form of flower heads. Perfect condition and very elegant.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
