Circa 1850, early Victorian mahogany 2 door wardrobe. The dramatic cornice has a flat facing and ogee moulding below, tapers beneath this and is veneered in flame mahogany. The 2 doors at the front have wonderful mahogany fielded panels and 2 carved knuckles at the top on both sides. The flat pilaster facing finishes with a small shaped base. Beneath the 2 doors are various moulded edges and a long drawer with 2 knob handles, larger scale than those on the doors above. On each side of the drawer is another fielded panel which is a little concealed drawer. The whole piece stands on an enclosed plinth. Inside the wardrobe, on the right side is uninterrupted hanging and on the left hand side is a shelf, 2 slides and 3 drawers with cast brass swan neck handles and flame mahogany drawer fronts. The panel between the 2 doors is fixed. The wardrobe has wonderful colour and good patination. Excellent condition. Breaks down into 4 separate sections.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
