elegant victorian (c1860) tilt top round mahogany table on paw feet and castors

This is a hard to find antique Victorian circular tilt top figured mahogany table. Constructed from quality solid mahogany it has a circular top with moulded edge above a deep skirt. The table has got its original brass catch which is in good working order. It stands on a solid and firm octagonal column with an equally elegant turned collar on a tri form platform base and then standing on well carved paw feet on castors. This table can seat between four to six people.

This is a lovely piece of furniture with attractive deep colour and patination with a beautiful dark honey colour mahogany. The table is a very elegant piece of Victorian furniture with a great deal of history and can lend itself to a variety of uses. The table top is released to tilt open by the original brass catch which is in good working order. When not in use the table top can be tilted to save space and it looks very impressive. It is in very good condition and ready to grace your home.This item dates back to circa 1860Condition Report: This is an antique piece with a long history going back about 150 years! This is a superb table of excellent quality mahogany oozing all the charm and character of the period. The table retains all the wooden buttons covering the screws that holds the table top to its frame. In the course of time the wood of the table has split right in the middle and this can be noticed as a line that follows the grain of the wood. The strong and stable wooden brackets at the back keep both half in place and prevent them from moving or separating further. The rim of the top and close to it there are some dents in line with its use and age. There are some scratches on the top confined mainly to one side of the table top. The veneer is chipped and missing on one the corner of the platform base and this is reported for accuracy. Please review carefully the photographs to see the items listed here.
