Circa 1890, Chinese circular huanghuali pedestal. The circular segmented top with its pink variegated marble insert and fore-edge with a form of primitive dragooning. The flared shaped apron continues to become the quarter brackets of the top of the legs. The legs have a pattern down the front in the form of acanthus leaves running from top to bottom and towards the bottom there is a cruciform stretcher. It is carved round the top with further open fretwork, making it into a small shelf. The legs are outswept and finish on a primitive animalistic paw foot.
