This is an antique occasional table. An English, ebonised side or lamp table in the manner of E.W. Godwin and the Aesthetic movement, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880.
- Distinctive two tier table with strong Aesthetic period overtones
- Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
- Ebonised mahogany presents dark hues beneath a wax polish finish
- Striking abacus side motif with ball turnings on slender rails
- Shaped scroll brackets adorn each end
- Useful undertier with shaped openings to corners
- Unmarked as such, shows the Japanese influence of Godwin and his contemporaries
- Crafted in the manner and quality of Liberty, London
This is a charming antique occasional table, with strong overtones and distinctive details. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
