This is an antique ladies travelling box. An English, rosewood and inlay combination sewing case and writing slope, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850.

• Exquisite craftsmanship accentuates this fine travel box
• Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order
• Select stocks present fine grain interest throughout
• Quality inlay adorns the lid and fascia with spectral highlights
  
  
• Inset, working lock to the fascia — key present
• Opening in two stages, the first aspect being a traditional sewing box
• Lid reverse hosting a document slide, held securely by a brass twist clasp
• Removable pin cushion tray replete with six twine bail compartments
  
  
• Upon removal of the tray, the centre section opening to reveal a writing slope
• Pair of velvet skivers, the upper half hosting a concealed storage compartment
• Replete with a pair of glass ink wells, topped with silver plated lids
• Pen tray residing between the ink wells, with removable lid
