This is an antique desktop stationery box. An English, oak correspondence case in Arts & Crafts taste, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1890.

• Striking Victorian craftsmanship with delightful figuring
• Displays a desirable aged patina and in very good order
• Select oak stocks present fine grain interest and an abundance of medullary rays
• Sumptuous warm caramel hues throughout the tapering form

• Unmarked brass shield dressing the broad lid, ideal for personalisation
• Dressed with a brass lock escutcheon — in working order, key present
• Fascinating card slide calendar to the lid interior with dates for January to December 1909
• Small glass inkwell sits front and centre, with a pair of dipping ink pens nesting to the side
• Drop front features a tooled red leather skiver to the reverse
