This is an antique decorative finery box. An English, rosewood and silk cotton jewellery box, dating to the late Regency period, circa 1830.

• Bold keepsake box with a striking silk cotton lining
• Displays a desirable aged patina throughout
• Select stocks present superb figuring and rich caramel hues
• Distinctive sarcophagus form, the body tapering towards and away from the lid edge

• Fascinating watercolour still life adorns the lid
• Dressed to the fascia with a shaped brass lock escutcheon — key absent
• A shock of saffron yellow silk cotton finishes the interior, with tightly ruched folds
