This is an antique cased microscope. An English, black enamel scientific instrument by J. Swift & Son of London, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.

• Nicely presented and appealing scientific instrument, ideal for display
• Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good original order
• Enamelled metal body in striking black, with highly contrasting polished brass
• Mahogany carry box shows rich caramel hues and benefits from a working lock — key present

• Extendable eyepiece tube with a rack and pinion main focus guide
• Slide stage dressed with a pair of rotary clips and annotated with a grid scale
• Single objective mounted to the scope with a pair of accessory lenses within the box
• Bright mirror beneath the slide holder, mounted on a rotating arm

• Maker's mark in crisp white paint for J. Swift & Son, London
• The scope fits neatly within the carry case with segmented compartments for further accessories
• Matched J. Swift lenses present in striking golden casings
• Trio of glass slides and a box of later Rotring ink wells included
