This is an antique pocket barometer altimeter. An English, oak cased explorer's instrument by Hicks of London, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1890.
- Delightful example of antique hiking or mountaineering interest
- Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
- Brass pocket case presents deep golden tones
- Charmingly housed within a later Alpine inspired case, held stay with sealed insert
- Dashing silvered dial presents beautifully with quality, slender needle
- Annotated with a barometric scale from 21 to 31 inches of mercury
- To the outer edge, the altimeter calibrated from zero to 10,000 feet
- Marked 'J. Hicks, 8,9 and 10 Hatton Garden, London'
