19thc oak corner display cabinet on cabriole leg stand. periodmanorantiques

This is a very impressive and unusual oak corner cabinet on a cabriole leg 'low boy' base.

It is a 19th century piece, cabinet maker built, in the Georgian style of about 1740.The base stands on 3 very well executed cabriole legs with pad feet. It has a pretty shaped apron and a central drawer with 2 dummy drawers either side.The drawer itself has its original oak lining and is of hand cut dovetail joint construction.The brass handles are original and early chippendale in style, very much in keeping with the piece as a whole.The cabinet has its original glass panels and has astragal glazing bars in diamond configuration
The cornice has a Greek key moulding.Internally the cabinet has 2 shelves of shaped profile and plate display bars around the edges.
All painted a pale green with a waxed finish.A very handsome piece of furniture.
