This is a very elegant early 19th Century mahogany chest of 4 drawers.
Dating to about 1820, it has original slightly flared bracket feet, nicely inlaid canted corners and a reeded moulding around the top; all of which lighten the appearance of the piece and offer a design of real presence.
The chest is in excellent original condition. The drawers are oak lined, of hand cut dove tail construction and all have the original blue lining paper
The handles are old replacements, patinated gilded brass, and of a very attractive 'sunburst' Sheraton design which really sets off the chest well.
There has been some worm previously to the back boards, this is now long gone.
