18th century oak cupboard dresser and rack. circa 1760

This is a lovely example of Georgian Country House Furniture.
It is a robust oak Cupboard Dresser and Rack, circa 1760. English, possibly from Yorkshire.

Having good storage and display space this dresser was built first and foremost as a solid practical piece of furniture for the home, but it was most certainly also built to impress, both in its own right, and as a platform for the household collection of dining wares.Stand out features:1) Fine architectural features - Carved reeded columns to both the base and the rack; Strikingly deep 'wave' cut frieze and dentil cornice.2) Pegged frame and panelled construction throughout. Fine arched and raised fielded panels to the doors - no cracks.3) Excellent deep storage cupboards - they are the full height of the base (more usually dresser bases have low cupboards set below drawers)4) Excellent display space - deep shelves to the rack allowing for full sized dinner plates on each shelf and the largest of meat plates to the top shelf. A generous arrangement of iron hooks for jugs and mugs too.5) Excellent overall low proportions - at under 7 feet high, this dresser will fit most cottages with the lowest of ceilings.The details:
The base has 2 full height cupboards, and a central column of four drawers. The doors have raised fielded stepped arch panels; and this framed panel construction is repeated on either side. It has a platform base, and two plank top. The corners are embellished with quarter round and deeply carved reeded columns.Inside the cupboards there are 2 full depth original shelves to the left and one on the right, see photo.This architectural elements of the base are harmonised through the design of the rack. It has reeded columns to either side and a deep moulded dentil cornice to the top with an eye catching fretwork frieze of 'wave' design. The 3 shelves of the rack have grooves for standing plates, the lower 2 having retaining bars also. The top shelf is very deep and would be for displaying large meat plates. It has had various hooks to the shelves over the years, and now has wrought iron cup hooks to the front of the 2 shelves - 6 smaller ones on the lower shelf and 4 on the upper shelf. In addition there are 2 large wrought hooks at either end of the top shelf, ideal for hanging large jugs. See photos.
