An interesting Georgian Period country oak writing bureau with extensive ornate carving to the front including the date '1776' which may have been included to commemorate the American War of Independence.
The chest stands on bracket feet and includes three graduated drawers with the linings and bases in oak and the drawer bases with the grain running along the width.
The writing desk/fall rests on two pull out lopers and within the bureau there are a number of pigeon holes and two secret drawers. Unfortunately the locking key has been lost over the years but a replacement should be easy enough to find if required.
