Arthur Blain established his cabinet making business in the William IV period at 35 Paradise Street, Liverpool. The earliest examples such as this exceptional bench are stamped with just A Blain Liverpool’ while later Victorian pieces carry the ‘A Blain & Sons’ . Arthur Blain died in 1868 when the business was continued by Arthur’s son William Hughes Blain who died in 1909. Their works were recorded in The Dictionary of English Furniture Makers, 1660-1840. Pieces by Blain are noted for the quality of the mahogany and walnut timbers used and exceptional hand craftsmanship and designs.

    Georgian Antiques

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
