Circa 1825. Quality rare and unusual George IV Birdseye maple and rosewood fold over tea table, the D shaped top in fine Birdseye maple with broad rosewood cross-banding, the hinged top opens to reveal polished interior similar to the outside with wonderful colour, the top swivels to reveal a small storage space beneath, with a simple fore-edge and a profusely carved frieze of foliate carving in oak panel with scrolling designs each side, resting on a tapering faceted stem with scrolling uprights, with pierced buttresses, on a cruciform platform base with shaped Birdseye maple and rosewood sections between each of the legs, resting on four animal feet with scrolling to the underside. Recently repolished traditionally.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981.
