Circa 1880. A pair of stained elm ladder-back armchairs, the tapering stepped ladder backs supported on turned uprights surmounted with small finials, the simple arms supported on balustrades, with the original rattan woven seats, the back legs are square with a slight chamfer, front legs are turned ring turned and rest on a pad foot with a bulbous section beneath, braced by elegant turned and bulbous stretchers with great colour and patination, the other legs are braced by turned stretchers. Clean, sturdy and functional.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
