Dated 7th October 1879, a mahogany pedestal desk. The top with broad crossbanding, tooled and gilded leather, low ¾ gallery which tapers on the sides. To the front, a configuration of one long drawer with two short drawers to the sides. Each of the drawers has cast brass shaped swan neck handles with elegant circular back plates. The central drawer opens to reveal a hinged writing slide, also in leather. The pedestals have a bank of three graduating drawers, all sides have fielded panels, the back is polished making the piece free standing. Beneath the bottom drawer there is further beading and the desk stands on 8 tapering legs finishing on spayed toes.
