Late Victorian Oak Child's High Chair on Stand with Fret-Cut Armorial Back & Tapestry Covered Drop-In Seat

A charming oak piece from around the late Victorian period and in good overall condition, having a fret-cut & carved armorial back with inset upholstered tapestry-covered pad, scroll arms with open-work bearers, a spindle restraining bar, tapestry-covered drop-in seat, over a modelled apron, on bobbin-turned front legs and sabre rear, attached to but detachable from a stand with blocked & bobbin-turned front legs united by a fret-cut stretcher and with sabre rear legs, this notable example of a child's high chair on stand will delight in any elegantly-appointed home and is sure to attract the admiring attention of family & guests alike.

    Max. Width at Top of Stand 39cm x Depth 52cm (c15.5" x 20.5")
    O/All Height 92.5cm (36.5") & Height to Top of Stand 32.75cm (13")

This piece dates from around 1870-90, so you may expect the mature character & patina of age, together with wear & tear commensurate with normal use, including a few minor losses and signs of historical woodworm that is no longer active. Specifically, there is a shrinkage gap in the top of the stand, the rear cover of the upholstered back pad is rather untidy and the removable wooden knob that would have secured the restraining bar is missing. All these minor issues are simply & inexpensively remedied if they offend and, in all other respects, it's in good, clean & sound condition, ready to use in your home.

NB: Whenever I acquire pieces that have signs of woodworm, even though they may be historical, as in this case, I always treat this, in order to provide additional reassurance to my Customer.
