Circa 1880. A mahogany and inlaid Carlton house desk with all the locks stamped, ‘Gillows of Lancaster’, of traditional form with a raised curved back with pierced gilded gallery, with sloping ends with drawer beneath, with insert tooled and gilded writing surface, two banks of drawers flanked by two curved cupboards, all with lovely simple moulded fore-edge, beneath the writing surface one long drawer flanked by a pair of shorter drawers all with heralded shaped escutcheons with elegant cast brass handles polished on all sides making the desk free-standing, all resting on four square tapering legs with string inlay, finishing with a brass cup with original casters beneath. 100cm High x 137cm Wide x 65cm Deep

The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
