17th Century Style 1940s Oak Joint Stool

An extraordinarily good example, given that it was made during the constrained circumstances of the 1940s, in the manner of the 17thC, peg-jointed throughout and, to all outward appearances, the work of a Victorian craftsman, so it's a revelation to discover the CC41 mark underneath and to wonder at the quality of love & skill that went into its manufacture in such lean times, with figured two-piece top, classically plain moulded edges, over a nicely-carved floral frieze, on blocked & turned baluster supports, united by plain stretchers with rounded tops, this lovely oak joint stool will charm in the most elegant of homes, whether period-furnished or more contemporary in style, fully-deserving of the appreciative attention it will undoubtedly attract.

    Width of Top 45.25cm x Depth 29.25cm (17.75" x 11.5") & Height 47cm (18.5")

NB: The dimensions were measured in centimetres and converted to the approximate equivalent in inches.

This piece was made in the 1940s, so you may expect the mature character & patina of age, together with wear & tear commensurate with normal use, including a light mark to the top of one leg (see Pic.) but, otherwise, it's in good, clean & sound condition and ready to be used in your home.
