      This is an antique telescope on tripod with original case, a three inch refractor for terrestrial or astronomical use, a 'Starboy' by Broadhurst Clarkson and Co. Ltd, 63 Farringdon Road, London and dating to circa 1920-40.

      Raised on a mahogany tripod with brass mount this impressive three inch refractor carries the name of Broadhurst Clarkson & Co., a respected name synonymous with high quality optical instruments operating out of London, England.

      The optics are in good order offering an achromatic object lens and a crisp, bright and sharp image. The sighting scope benefits from fine adjustment for alignment. There are a pair of eye tubes, one astronomical (inverted image) and one terrestrial (upright image) and two coloured filters.

      The single draw tube extends smoothly and is focused with the knurled wheel moving the rack and pinion fine adjustment mounted internally to the main tube. The tubes are in good order, complete with lens caps and retaining the original paint and lacquer finish.

      The case is in tip-top condition and displays good colour and grain interest. Opening up, a clean interior with baized bearers and the maker's badge attached inside the lid.

      A super example and a handsome instrument. Delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
