An interesting and unusual Victorian gilded cast brass pierced and engraved picture frame, with three oval (Italian) Pietra Dura panels. The oval panels with further casting are hinged and the top one opens to reveal three oval frames. To the inside – the two frames in the bottom open to revel two further frames, with foliate casting throughout, the back of the frame has an extended leg which splays into two forming a strut.
